[Spacecadets] Minutes from last meeting

Last week at the very end of the meeting I thought we had an agreement on meeting this week at the same time. Sundays earlier are a poor time for me to meet unfortunately. I would much rather meet Friday evening or Saturday after noon (due to the classes at Quelab that run before that). Remember this last meeting was called just to get the ball rolling, so it would be wise for us as a group to pick a time that works for all of us if possible.
I am also fine with delaying our next meeting. What we do need to do is get a proposal to the board as soon as possible so we can start renting the space and reducing the effect of the added cost of the annex on the membership.
So a couple things to do outside of the meeting for this week:
Proposals for the board to approve renting the space
Come up with a new meeting time that is optimal for the Space Cadets team
A couple of things for us to chew on and address at the next meeting:
Discussing on utilization of the rest of the space at Quelab (outside of the annex) including:
Flynn's Arcade
Room 1
Mission Control and Space Operations Center
Additional meeting room in the Annex
The yard in front of the building
A survey of the membership would be wise to narrow down what type of space they would want in the annex as a work area. It sounded to me like many people just want a small place to work on their project where they do not have to put it away. To that extent I think the individuals were more attracted to the cheapest option that provided them that opportunity. That is, I would like to see what is the actual desire for a fixed work bench among the membership. It may be that the fixed workbenches are not even necessary.
This would be ideal for maximizing space utilization, but we only want to do that if a large, clear majority of the membership is in favor of it.
To address this issue we need a survey to establish the following:
Maximum amount a member would pay for space
Ideal amount of space members actually want
Number of members currently interested in bench space
Also, what will be the members use of the space
This does not really affect the proposal. The board can approve both types of spaces and have a rental officer decide what the actual breakup of the space should be. However, it would be good to have a set up that is near ideal when we start renting so that we do not have to rearrange the space and/or add/reduce benches.
