It is not quite in the same class as a Shopbot, since it is slower and less accurate, but good enough for my needs to make some plywood furniture (i.e., <a href="http://www.opendesk.cc" target="_blank">www.opendesk.cc</a> and <a href="http://atfab.co/" target="_blank">http://atfab.co/</a> ) and can be built for under $500 (including the $160 router Home Depot/Ridgid router) versus $8000+ for a more conventional CNC router.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Here are the specs from the Maslow website:<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Work Space: 4' X 8' *<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Encoder Resolution: 8148 steps/rev<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Repeatability: +- 1/64th inch (.4 mm) or better<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Max feed rate 48 inches/minute<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">AC Voltage: 110-250 volts<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in">DC Voltage: 12 volts<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Connection: USB<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">OS for Software: Mac, Windows, Linux<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Size: H: 6' 8" W: 10' D: 1' 7"<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">*The work space is defined by the length of the two #25 roller chains so it can be easily enlarged or made smaller by adding or removing links from the chains.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">It was a Kickstarter project, but they closed the sales on their Maslow kits and aren’t accepting new order until maybe September. Since I don’t want that long, I am going to try to implement myself with the information available…and maybe make some upgrades in the process. For example, the baseline design uses an Arduino for control and the limited computational capabilities of the Arduino seems to be one of the factors in the relatively slow cutting speed. I am thinking of using a Raspberry Pi instead of the Arduino and hope that will allow it to run at a faster speed. If anybody has additional suggestions, I would be happy to have them.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Thanks.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Regards<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Michael<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Michael Enoch<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><a href="mailto:michael.enoch@comcast.net" target="_blank">michael.enoch@comcast.net</a><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><a href="tel:(505)%20730-0126" value="+15057300126" target="_blank">505-730-0126</a><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p></div></div><br>______________________________<wbr>_________________<br>
